The KCK Arts Network is getting a website! Eventually this site will include directories of KCK artists and art venues, events listings, artist opportunities, and more. For now, there is information about the big June 12th Street Fest which is FREE and open to the public and will include artist vendors, local food, street performers and live music plus more.

Visual artists, you have until tomorrow to sign-up to display at the street fest... participation is free of charge! Details can be found on the KCK Arts Network website.

Pilates and Book Club at the YWCA

Attention Ladies! Wednesday, May 20th the YWCA is offering a FREE Pilates class from Noon to 1 p.m. Every Wednesday, the YWCA Women's Health & Fitness Center holds Pilates for members only, but on May 20th, we are opening it up to non-members for a free trial. Our Pilates instructor, PJ, is ahead of the game and knows how to help you get in shape and stay looking sharp! The class is designed to accommodate every fitness level and you don't have to bring anything with you except a good attitude! Come in and check it out for yourself! No RSVP required. Call to Artists for Liberty Arts Festival Logo Design

The Liberty Arts Festival Committee (made up of the Liberty Arts Commission and Historic Downtown Liberty, Inc.) announces a call for logo design concepts for Liberty’s first arts festival with the theme of “Liberty Arts Squared.” Proposals are requested from graphic designers, artists and students for an appropriate logo to be used to promote the festival, which will become an annual event. This logo should be an appropriate trademark for this event.

A cash prize of $150.00 will be presented to the artist/ designer of the logo that is selected by an Arts Festival Committee appointed selection jury.

Call for Artists: Downtown KCK Street Fest - Friday, June 12, 4 – 9 pm

The KCK Arts Network is sponsoring a free arts street festival. Two blocks of Minnesota Avenue (KCK’s main downtown street) will be blocked off for festival artists, vendors, music and activities. The event includes: gallery openings for 2nd Fridays exhibits, one city block of artist vendors (between 7th and 8th Streets), music, street performers, puppets, children’s art activities, a giant participative mural, food and drink vendors and downtown restaurant participation.

Space for artists is FREE . . . bring your own set-up for your art. Set-up must be completed before the 4:00 pm start. Tear down is at 9:00 pm. We have reserved a large rain location in case of inclement weather.

Alcott Arts Center's Second Saturday/Open Jam KC

May 9th 6 to 10 pm

Musicians bring your instruments and come jam with the other fellow musicians.
A reception will be held at 6pm . Our featured Artist this month is Levi Jiron. Levi was born March of 1977 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is full-blooded (4/4) Isleta Pueblo Indian. He grew up on the Isleta Reservation, which is located just south of Albuquerque. He was raised on his grandparents farm and grew up helping his grandfather in the fields and tending to their animals.

Levi attended elementary school on the reservation but attended middle and high school in the neighboring community of Los Lunas, New Mexico. He graduated from High School in 1995 from Los Lunas High School.

In 1999 Levi, his wife, and son moved to Odessa, MO. When they moved to Missouri Levi and Lori both attended University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. Levi graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in studio painting. Levi also found his love for creating sculptures during this time.

Levi has had artwork shown throughout, North Carolina, Missouri, and Kansas. Levi currently lives in Odessa with his wife and two sons, Ryder (11) and Cooper (1). He continues to create, show and sell artwork. You can learn more about Levi at levijiron.com. This is Levi's first time exhibiting at the Alcott or in Kansas City, Kansas. Come enjoy the blending of all elements to form these spectacular works of Art!
